Early Career Professionals (ECP)
The Early Career Professionals (ECP) Committee is a Standing Division 33 committee, with a position on the Division Executive Committee to help facilitate involvement of ECPs in Division decision making. Supporting ECPs is an area of focus for the Division as it recognizes the unique interests and concerns of those who received their degree within the past ten years. The goal of the ECP Committee is to engage ECPs within the division and increase ECP-focused programming and information.
The Division 33 ECP Committee is currently focused on:
o Providing APA convention programming of interest to ECPs
o Mentoring ECPs and students: Formally integrating into Division programing at the APA convention in which ECPs and students can engage in a small-group mentoring session with mentors from diverse backgrounds, work settings, and professional perspectives
o Building cross-divisional collaborations: Facilitating a cross-divisional ECP social event at the APA convention (e.g., Division 16, Division 25, Division 53)
o Developing a virtual presence
o Contributing to an ECP column to the Division official newsletter publication
o Developing ECP-specific presence on the Division website
o Representing ECPs to the Division 33 Executive Committee
o Connecting ECPs with information and resources

Benefits to ECPs of Division 33 Membership:
o A newsletter Psychology in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities/Autism Spectrum Disorder with a column focused on issues of relevance to ECPs
o Annual APA convention programming focusing on issues relevant to professionals in the IDD/ASD field and participation in the Division program at the APA annual convention
o Networking with others interested in psychology and IDD/ASD
oAccess to information and resources relevant to ECPs
o Sara Sparrow Early Career Research Award is presented every other year to an ECP who has made substantial contributions to the field
o Representation on the APA Division 33 Executive Committee
