Postdoctoral Fellowship, UCLA

Clinical/Research Postdoctoral Fellowship in Autism Spectrum Disorder

The UCLA Child and Adult Neurodevelopmental (CAN) Clinic and the UCLA Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) is offering a one year renewable clinical postdoctoral fellowship to engage in a new clinical research program aimed at testing the efficacy of the PEERS® for Careers program, an evidence-based social skills intervention adapted for the workplace. The trainee will be engaged in the assessment and treatment of transition aged youth and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) within the context of an intervention research trial.

The fellowship provides specialized training in assessment, with a focus on gaining competency with specific diagnostic measures for ASD (e.g., Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2; ADOS-2) and breadth in using and interpreting a variety of clinical assessments needed for differential diagnosis and capturing functioning across areas (e.g., neurocognitive measures, adaptive functioning assessment, and psychiatric interview).

Training in intervention will include, implementing an empirically-supported, employment-focused social skills intervention for young adults with ASD. Fellow will lead young adult and social coach groups and conduct intakes to determine suitability for the program.

Additionally, the fellowship will include engagement with community partner employers, including recruitment of potential employers, on-going employer education and training in supporting individuals with ASD in the workplace, and on-going problem-solving and support with young adults once placed with community employers.
