Research Psychologist - University of Washington, Seattle

Description: The Department of Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Research Psychologist. 

The Research Psychologist contributes to the growth and success of the Department of Radiology by executing the mission and vision.


This position will be responsible for supporting neurodevelopmental research by directing the clinical phenotyping components of our ongoing research studies. This includes providing gold-standard research-based diagnostic and psychological testing, supervising post-doctoral fellows, psychometrists and research coordinators, providing research updates to collaborating sites, writing clinical reports and providing feedback to families, and ensuring the clinical team is adhering strictly to research study protocols and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead/Supervise Research Team

• Direct the clinical phenotyping components of our ongoing research studies;
• Instructs post-docs, students, interns and other staff in function of testing lab and use of tests;
• Attend meetings to discuss cases;
• Direct the work of others;

Administer Research/Psychological Test

• Administers, scores and analyzes psychological tests; evaluates behavior of individuals being tested;
• Writes clinical reports and provides feedback and recommendations to families who participate in our research studies;

Assist in the preparing grant submission, manuscripts, and conference presentations

• Interpretation and analysis of data.
• Conducts literature searches to determining suitable testing methods and measures for grant submissions and manuscript preparations.
• Presents data at meetings and conferences; authors research reports and papers;
• Assemble test data and calculate statistical summaries such as means, standard deviations, correlations, or analysis of variance; submit to supervisor for interpretation;

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Ph.D. or Psy. D. in clinical psychology, school psychology, or educational psychology
• Three or more years working with pediatric patients or research participant
• Licensed psychologist in Washington State

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience with autism spectrum disorder
• Experience administering the Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale in a research setting
• Experience conducting psychological tests with children under the age of 5

Supervision:
This position reports to Natalia Kleinhans, PhD, Associate Professor in the Radiology Department.

Employee will be frequently asked to communicate via zoom or the telephone.

Work Environment:

• Schedule is normally 8a to 5p, M-F but is not always fixed and workload does vary. The incumbent¹s first responsibility is to complete tasks rather than keep to a fixed schedule.  Flexibility in schedule and intensity of work is necessary.
• Some travel between sites will be necessary by UW Health Services or other shuttles.
