The Autism Assessment, Research, Treatment, & Services (AARTS) Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is recruiting for a two-year, full-time Postdoctoral Psychologist for our growing, interdisciplinary program serving individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Our research program seeks to integrate the latest findings in biological, behavioral, and implementation sciences to build effective, accessible treatments for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) – of all ages.

 

The integrated research clinical fellowship seeks doctoral-level clinical psychologists with expertise in identification and early intervention for young children with and at-risk for ASD. Competitive applicants will have experience with gold-standard diagnostic assessments (e.g., Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition) and a scholarship track-record in neurodevelopment disorders. The fellowship will involve supporting clinical research studies, delivering clinical services, and didactic, community engagement and training activities in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Supervision towards clinical licensure will also be available. Salary will be competitive with NIH stipends with full benefits. Additional funds for pilot research activities may also be available to competitive applicants.

In January 2012, Rush opened a new 376-bed hospital building, known as the Tower, which is part of the Medical Center’s major renovation of its campus. Rush University is home to one of the first medical colleges in the Midwest and one of the nation’s top-ranked nursing colleges, as well as graduate programs in allied health, health systems management and biomedical research. The Medical Center also offers more than 70 highly selective residency and fellowship programs in medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties.

 

 

This postdoctoral fellowship consists of the following components: clinical research, clinical services, and didactics, training, and community engagement. Each is detailed below:

Clinical Research

•                     • Conduct diagnostic evaluations for early identification and intervention research studies

•                     • Serve as study clinician on early intervention trials

•                     • Support study protocol development and review for new trials

•                     • Assistant in grant development, preparation, and submission

•                     • Participate in collaborative poster presentations, community presentations, and other scholarship activities (e.g., manuscript preparation)

 

Clinical Training

•                     • Support early childhood diagnostic evaluation clinics

•                     • Lead evidence-based group therapy programs

•                     • Attend weekly supervision

 

Didactics, Training, and Community Engagement

•                     • Teach or co-teach psychiatry residents and fellow courses

•                     • Attend weekly clinic rounds; case conference; departmental grand rounds

•                     • Support community-based outreach events

 

Salary & Benefits

•                     • The position will run from 7/1/2022 to 6/31/2024 (some flexibility on start date)

•                     • Salary consistent with NIH standards

•                     • 22 days professional/personal leave

•                     • LEAP funds, pay for 90% of continuing education expenses up to $1,000.00

•                     • Low-cost health & dental insurance

•                     • Malpractice insurance paid by Rush University Medical Center
