POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP POSITION IN AUTISM/DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

 Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) is pleased to invite interested candidates to apply for four (4) 12-month fellowship positions:

1.       Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Disabilities

2.       Pediatric Psychology, special focus in Hematology/Oncology/BMT and Consultation-Liaison

3.       Pediatric Psychology, special focus in Pain Psychology and Consultation-Liaison

4.       Pediatric Psychology, Grant-funded Hem/Onc/BMT position with special focus on weight management in AYA

 

JHACH is a world-class hospital providing family-centered care for youth with complex medical needs. The fellowship program is designed to provide clinical and research experiences necessary to support independent practice in pediatric and clinical child psychology and advanced training for a career within an academic medical setting/hospital.

 

Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Disabilities (1 position)

The Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Disabilities track provides specialized training working with youth and their families focusing on early detection, differential diagnosis, and intervention for children with developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Global Developmental Delay, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, Language Disorder, and less frequently, internalizing disorders. Focus is placed on evidence-based assessment to support differential diagnosis, and treatment recommendations. The position will include primarily outpatient clinical experiences, including the opportunity to become an integrated member on an interdisciplinary evaluation team at the JHACH Autism Center.  Inpatient consultation opportunities are available. Additional opportunities will include participating in interventions targeting core skill deficits using evidence-based approaches (e.g., behavioral parent training, group-based behavioral parent training, group-based social skills training).

 

The JHACH fellowship program provides opportunities for fellows to gain umbrella supervisory experiences with psychology interns for assessment and intervention. Fellows will participate in scheduled didactics, including Pediatric Grand Rounds, Inpatient Consultation Table Rounds, Supervision Seminar and a Professional Development series. There is an expectation for involvement in collaborative research, with goal of producing 1-2 scholarly works, whether a peer-reviewed paper, presentation at a national conference, or grant submission. Research requirement may be satisfied with approved proposal for program development.

 

Eligibility

Applicants from APA- or CPA-accredited programs in clinical, school or counseling will be considered for the position. Preference provided to those applicants with pediatric psychology experience and an interest working in a hospital-based setting. Completion of an APA-accredited internship, and all requirements for graduation/conferment of doctoral degree prior to start date is required (August 1, 2022, with flexible start depending on internship end).
