The Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI), located in London, Ontario, Canada is directly operated by the Government of Ontario. Programs and services at CPRI are for children and youth with complex combinations of special needs, including developmental disabilities, autism and severe behavioural, emotional and mental health challenges.  Leadership

·        There is respect for Psychology and a Psychological perspective. Several of the outpatient and inpatient programs at CPRI have been historically founded by Psychologists.  Currently, Psychologists assume a leadership role in terms of treatment or assessment planning, program evaluation, keeping clinical practices current in terms of available literature, and serving as content experts to others at CPRI as well as the broader community

·        Many clinics provide opportunities to work with clinicians from other disciplines who have complimentary or overlapping skill sets.  This provides an environment for collaborative and interdisciplinary work that may not be possible in other settings.  Opportunities may include:

o   Comprehensive assessment involving the input of a Speech and Language Pathologist or Occupational Therapist

o   Collaborative development of a Behaviour Support Plan with a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)

o   Family assessment and/or intervention with a Social Worker

Supervision

·        CPRI provides Psychologists with opportunities for observation and supervision, including with other Psychologists, Psychometrists, and other clinical disciplines at CPRI.  Supervision is considered part of employment at CPRI so no additional costs for supervision or consultation are incurred

·        Past employees have reported no difficulties meeting requirements for registration purposes

·        CPRI is the Site Lead for the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium and as a result, CPRI Psychologists have the opportunity to supervise Psychology Residents through Consortium

Breadth of Experience

·        Large catchment area as CPRI provides services across the province of Ontario

·        Opportunities to work with specialized populations and complex clinical presentations, which expand knowledge and expertise

·        There are a wide range of available assessment tools and batteries; ability to order additional measures when needed.  These include both traditional and tablet-based (i.e., Q-Interactive) materials

·        Working with others (Team-Based Practice) is a priority, which can include interdisciplinary collaboration and consultation

·        Employment involves a variety of clinical experiences that are responsive to clinical needs, community requests, and best practices.  These can represent a wide range of activities, including:

o   Professional-to-Professional collaboration through a consultation model with community agencies and service providers

o   Traditional face-to-face standardized assessments with children and youth

o   Individual and group therapies that involve modifications (e.g., CBT with Intellectual Disability) or target specific concerns (e.g., Tic Management)

o   Interdisciplinary assessment for complex clinical questions

o   Assessment and intervention within the context of a short-term inpatient service model (along with Allied Health disciplines and Psychiatry)

·        Work closely with community stakeholders to foster change and implement recommendations
