/Summary of Licensed Clinical Psychologist Position:
The Westchester Institute of Human Development (WIHD), a University Center for Excellence in
Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service (UCEDD) is seeking a full-time
licensed psychologist to provide behavioral treatment services as part of the Integrated
Behavioral Health program providing high-quality, evidence-based, disability advocacy
informed, person-centered psychological services to individuals with Autism and Intellectual and
Developmental disabilities (IDD) of all ages and abilities, and provides evidence-based
treatment for a wide variety of challenging behaviors and co-occurring conditions. We work with
individuals, their families, and agencies to provide behavior analytic, cognitive and behavioral
psychotherapy, caregiver and family training, and other evidence-based modalities.
Psychologists collaborate with staff in assistive technology, dental, speech, and medical
departments to assist our clients with accessing services, with group homes, and schools.
This position is primarily clinical, but within the UCEDD there are optional additional
opportunities to participate in research, training, supervision, and contract work. This position
would be ideal for an early-career or other psychologist looking for a position in which to grow
and establish their career in working with individuals with Autism and IDD, or to develop and
improve skills in applied behavior analysis. A faculty appointment at NYMC may be available on
a case-by-case basis.
Responsibilities
Provide diagnostic formulations and treatment planning.
Provide behavioral psychotherapeutic and/or behavior analytic services to children and
adults who display challenging behaviors (self-injurious behavior, aggressive/destructive
behaviors, harmful repetitive behaviors)
Provide services to a diverse multicultural clientele, preferring person-centered and
strengths-based disability conceptualizations
Provide behavior analytic and or behavioral interventions to improve communication,
adaptive living skills, academic skills, and wellbeing.
Provide services either on-site and/or via telehealth as necessary.
Consult and collaborate with other providers and support staff for skills/therapy
generalization and continuity of care.
Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team of psychologists and psychiatrists who make
up the behavioral health team at WIHD.
Provide continuing education and training in evidence-based practice.
Maintain medical records and other documentation of services provided.
Supervise interns and post-doctoral psychology fellows and other clinicians.
Conduct seminars for psychology trainees, schools, and other organizations.
Qualification
Must hold a doctoral degree in the field of clinical, school, counseling, or other area of
health service psychology and be licensed to practice in the State of New York. Training
and internship from an APA-accredited doctoral program and internship preferred.
BCBA training and licensure preferred. Those with strong experience requiring
postdoctoral hours may be considered.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience and/or training in an outpatient
setting serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Experience in working with individuals with a diverse range of cognitive and verbal
abilities.
Experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis, functional behavior assessment, parent
training, and cognitive behavioral techniques.
