Job summary: The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) announces a full-time faculty position for a Pediatric Psychologist at the Assistant Professor rank. The primary responsibility of this faculty position will include evidence-based evaluation of children with a range of developmental concerns, with a particular focus on assessment of suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In addition to ASD, other areas of specialty practice may also be possible, depending on the candidate’s clinical experience and interest.
The psychologist will join the Pediatric Psychology team within the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics located in a major medical center that serves a diverse population of patients from a large geographic area (http://www.musckids.org/developmentalpeds/). Patients represent a wide variety of pediatric populations, including children with developmental disabilities, complex medical and neurological conditions, learning disabilities, attention problems, behavior problems, autism spectrum disorder, and psychiatric disorders. The Pediatric Psychology team currently consists of five licensed psychologists and one psychoeducational specialist. The team works closely with other allied health professionals to provide comprehensive psychological and medical care to children. The Pediatric Psychology service also participates in the nationally recognized, APA-accredited Charleston Consortium Psychology Internship Training Program http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/psychology_internship/index.htm).
Candidates should have completed a doctoral degree in clinical or school psychology, an internship from an APA-approved program, a postdoctoral fellowship, have experience working with pediatric populations including ASD, and be license eligible in South Carolina. In addition to clinical service, the psychologist will be expected to participate in the training of predoctoral interns, postdoctoral fellows, and other trainees within the division.
