The Neurodevelopmental Diversity Laboratory at Northwestern University, directed by Dr. Molly Losh, is excited to announce open positions on our research team for a Post-doctoral Scholar and Clinical Research Assistant. Both roles focus on studying autism spectrum disorder (ASD), fragile X syndrome (FXS), and related neurodevelopmental conditions, and communication disorders, offering extensive opportunities to contribute to multiple NIH-funded research projects, and gain skills at all stages of the research projects.
1. Post-doctoral Scholar
This full-time position involves a leadership role in NIH-funded projects on autism, FXS, and related genetic conditions, with a focus on understanding language-related features of autism and gene-brain-behavior connections using multidisciplinary methods. The role includes:
· Conducting experiments and analyses on linguistic, cognitive, neurophysiological, and clinical properties.
· Leading coordination of research activities and supervising team members.
· Writing grant proposals and preparing manuscripts for publication.
· Additional opportunities include:
o Developing and pursuing an independent research program via grant applications.
o Collaborating in research with our multidisciplinary and international investigative team across several institutions.
Qualifications:
· PhD in communication sciences, psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, or related fields, with strong interest in studying ASD or FXS.
· Evidence of peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
· Preferred: Experience in language-related research, evidence of project development, clinical training in neurodevelopmental conditions, computational methods skillset, proficiency using AI, and strong oral and written communication skills.

2. Clinical Research Assistant
This two-year, full-time position involves working on NIH-funded studies investigating the neurocognitive and genetic basis of ASD, FXS, and communication disorders. Key responsibilities include:
· Recruiting and testing participants (children, adults, and families).
· Assisting with data processing
· Additional opportunities include:
o Contributing to grants, presentations, and manuscripts (depending on experience)
o Coordinating research activities and supervising staff, based on qualifications
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in communication sciences, psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, or a related field
· Experience interacting with people with ASD or FXS
· Proficiency in experimental and statistical methods
· Strong organizational and teamwork skills
